the Scenic City

Chattanooga Communities

Nestled between mountains and rivers, there's every opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. Even though we're known for our southern hospitality, Chattanooga isn't short on big city amenities. Whether it's restaurants, music or the arts, you can always find something fun to do.

Downtown

The heart of the city is the downtown area. People not only go to work downtown, but they live and play there as well. Realizing the importance of our downtown, revitalization of the area began in the mid 1980’s as the result of goals set by both civic leadership and citizen planning. The outcome was and continues to be spectacular. A multitude of activities are hosted in and around downtown that run a wide range of interests and takes many forms. Its public spaces are of superior quality and we are proud of our downtown on the river where our heritage began and has now returned.

Hixson

The Hixson community is and continues to be one of the fasted growing communities in the Chattanooga metro area. More than 37,000 people live in this family-oriented, residential area. Hixson is a self-contained community that offers shopping malls, hospitals, 5 playgrounds,3 golf courses, 2 walking tracks, and plenty of water sports on Lake Chickamauga. It’s a great place for families to live.

The population of 12,000 in Soddy Daisy enjoys the 70 acres of land dedicated to public use that includes campgrounds and picnic areas; baseball fields and tennis courts; and swimming, boating, and fishing.

Signal Mountain, located less than 10 minutes from downtown, is a family-friendly community. With a population of 7,400, this area’s median home value is $235,000. Many natural attractions include the Cumberland Trail, Rainbow Lake, Edwards Point, and Signal Point, which is a U.S. National Park. Signal Mountain has a great atmosphere, excellent schools, and plenty of ways to have outdoor fun.

This suburban area offers gated neighborhoods, golf course communities, and rural acreage. The property taxes in Ooltewah are low, causing this area to grow rapidly.
